Mr. Juan Saavedra received his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree from Liberty University in Education with an emphasis in History.
Saavedra began his career in education as a student teacher in Miami where he taught fourth and fifth grade students. After completing his B.S. degree, he moved on to teach World and American History at the high school level. While he was still a high school teacher, Saavedra returned to school to pursue a Master’s degree in History. He completed his M.A. degree in Classical History at the American Military University.
Following his teaching career, Saavedra moved into the field of higher education working as an academic adviser at Kaplan University. In his role as an academic adviser, Saavedra helped students select their field of study, meet their academic goals and specific program requirements, and counseled them through any difficulties encountered along the path to earning their degree.
Saavedra joined Nova Southeastern University in 2012 as part of the Enrollment and Student Services Health Professions Admissions department. As an Admissions Counselor, Saavedra’s primary role was to help recruit qualified applicants for the incoming class at the College of Optometry. He served in this capacity from October of 2012 through December of 2014. In January of 2015, Saavedra officially became part of the NSU College of Optometry as the Recruitment and Student Affairs Coordinator.
As the Recruitment and Student Affairs Coordinator for the College of Optometry, Saavedra oversees the recruitment and admissions process for each new entering class and to coordinate all activities related to the Office of Student Affairs.
